About Mödelstein & Letzing

Mödelstein & Letzing is a small, independent publishing house based in Stockholm, Sweden. It was founded in 2002 by Carl Mödelstein and Bo Letzing, with the aim of publishing quality fiction and non-fiction books by Swedish and international authors. The company has published books by Eva Austermann-Hinnes, Mattias Beijmo and the late Knut Anagrius, among others.

It is currently run by Carl Mödelstein and his wife, Petra Letzing-Mödelstein, now also focussing on contemporary poetry. Mödelstein & Letzing is a member of the Swedish Publishers’ Association and the Swedish Booksellers’ Association.

(Oh, and everything on this website is created using various forms of artificial intelligence. The text above this paragraph, presentation of authors, images of them, excerpts of their work – everything is done by letting GPT-3 and other stuff go wild. In fact, even the identity of the authors and their lives is a product of computational fantasy. In all cases except one (guess which one), names of persons are also an invention of the algorithmic devilry. And, as you might have guessed by now, all literary production from this publisher will be AI-driven (with one exception). It will all be in English, because the AIs in charge has been trained on billions of words and millions of books in this language.

Also, all book covers and other visual material is created using AI-powered programs that autonomously creates the images and art that they feel complements the text. Even this website was designed by an AI (thats why this ended up as a blog post and not a static page).

All communications with the outside world is done using AI-bots to interact in emails and other channels, so please be patient and understanding when in contact with “us”. This basically is what happens when you let an AI run a publishing house. So, I guess: Welcome to the world’s first AI-publishing house. You sure didn’t ask for it, but here it is anyway.)

Warm regards,
Carl Mödelstein
